The Final of XXI Studrespublika on the topic ‘Subject of Modernization – the Generation’s Responsibility’ was held during 23-26 August 2019 at the bank of the Black sea in Lazurne. People of long-term goodwill and progress worked on Ukraine in top-20 most developed countries in the world, gathering together in the unique format of improvised quasi-state – the original laboratory of the future [+ video].
The participants all over Ukraine took a part in the XXI Final of Studrespublika (Kherson region, Skadovsk district, ‘Prybrezhny’) active students and progressive youth, different years graduates of Studrespublika, the leading experts gathered together in order to unite and look for opportunities for building the true, non-fake subject of modernization. Conclusion made by the Republicans, details of the OAG and the bright multi-festival part, also — who was elected as the Students’ President and the Deputies of the Students’ Parliament of Ukraine — read the official post-release.
The biggest open space for dialogue, deep discussion and presentation of breaking ideas in Ukraine traditionally on the Independence Day gathered the most active youth and the most advanced experts for common work on the topic ‘Subject of Modernization – the Generation’s Responsibility’. This year’s theme reflected our baggage of developments for 21 years of everyday tireless work and crazy wish for changes. And it`s not a chance – it’s our mission and responsibility!
During the opening ceremony of the Final of ХХI Studrespublika-2019 Pavlo Viknyanskyy, the leader of the Republicans, emphasized the fateful choice of generation to take responsibility for the modernization of Ukraine: ‘The price of development is our Hearts, we have to let go completely’, otherwise we will not be able to enter the top-20 most developed countries in the world, to win in a tough competition and to bring peace, as nothing is achieved without efforts.
Modernization course involves the resumption of normal human life, the establishment of a wide range of liberties and embodiment a lot of progressive innovations.
At the original opening stage by the sea, the head of Lazurne village Serhiy Byelik gave a speech being surrounded by the participants. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Family, Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism Artur Palatny sent a congratulatory message for participants, encouraging to discuss ‘all controversial issues, to seek non-standard solutions, to take into account all proposals, no matter how fantastic and unfeasible, they would seem to be’.
Head of the Kherson Regional State Administration and former participant and expert of the Studrespublika Yuriy Husyev, Head of the Education and Science Department of the Kherson Regional State Administration, the former Head of the Kherson Studrespublika Eugene Krynytskyy, Head of Skadovsk District State Administration Viktor Turyk – all they visited Studrespublika-2019. Heads of the region which hospitably hosted the final talked to the participants and visited the football match in the framework of the Respublikada project, familiarized themselves with the course of the OAG.
Among the guests were graduates of the Studrespublika, newly elected deputies of Ukraine Ihor Kryvosheyev and Anatoliy Kostyukh, who spent more than a day with participants, visited a lot of activities and initiated an interesting discussion with the students, and also promised to support the organization’s positive initiatives.
As the Great Game-2019 revealed, to be called ‘new’ and to be young doesn’t always mean self-sacrifice for Ukrainian people and movement in direction of progress, but synergy of science, reflexive tradition and will – those are critically lacking in Ukraine to escape the ‘eternal power’ and degradation.
As a result, 3 political parties were formed: ‘Equal for All’, ‘Fist’ and ‘E-government’. They reflected 3 main positions from the Game:
electronic government – a new look at the system of social rating with democratic procedures for assessment and regulation through the moderator system (the reverse side of which is total control);
trade unions. The group’s position was formed around the idea of the trade union movement as a powerful tool for restoring the socio-economic interests of workers;
alterschools. The project provided civil enlightenment, the development of critical thinking and learning, in particular, media literacy, for the formation of an alternative political elite.
General conclusions of the Game are interesting. The manifestation of the position of trade unions indicates the possibility of a powerful revival of the left idea. Participants, often without theoretical background, raised ideas of social justice and freedom. Young people are bright and free, but sometimes with a lack of understanding of the complete picture of the world, their knowledge is fragmented, which may generate misunderstanding of the consequences of certain actions, intentions and narratives. The project of total control (so-called system of social rating) was not successful in the game, but it is worth noting that this project was studied in details. After all, as very aptly noted during one of the workshops: modernization is about how to become Human.
The elections of the Student’ President of Ukraine won Vladyslav Mayer, a student of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University (Chernivtsi region, party ‘Fist’).
The results of competition between parties in base on position in OAG were as follows: ‘Fist’, ‘Equal for All’ and ‘E-government’ received 47%, 30% and 23%, in the Students’ Parliament of Ukraine were elected: Kostyantyn Budko (Kirovohrad region), Roman Cherevatenko (Kirovohrad region), Mykola Horyuk (Chernivtsi obl.), Roman Kolomiets (Poltava region), Mykhaylo Lobov (Kirovohrad region), Oleksandr Mazuryak (Chernivtsi region), Andrii Mykytenko (Poltava region), Angelina Prots (Poltava region), Vladyslav Pryzov (Poltava region), Olena Zhara (Poltava region).
The experts – Yevgenia Bilchenko, Maxim Gardus, Serhiy Datsyuk, Yelya Dorofievska, Andrey Yermolaiev, Ruslan Kotsaba, Dmytro Marunych, Andrii Okara, Fr. Antonii Rudyi, Georgiy Chyzhov – worked 3 days with participants, carried faculties and provided consultation.
In addition to a very intensive compelling program, about 4 hundred participants non-stop competed in 20 sub-festivals and had an excellent opportunity to enjoy meaningful spending of leisure time and the Southern sun and sea. Along with the closing ceremony took place a spectacular beauty contest of the personality the First Lady (Persha Lady), with winners Erika Hevko, a student of Ternopil National Economic University, and Anastasia Shyryayeva, a student of Kherson State University. The winners among other members of the jury were determined by the guests of the finale – a social activist, entrepreneur, a friend of the Studrespublika Oleksii Burbak and a deputy of the Skadovsk City Council Olexiy Frolov.
The Game once again became a peculiar projection into the future of everything that is happening in Ukraine. Conclusion: it is critically important not to confuse true modernization progress with imitation of it (as all false are boldly and empty, no matter how it is ‘new’ aiming at the continuation of the old, oligarchic system (and now more clearly – international corporatocracy), Social Darwinism policy (neo-liberalism, market fundamentalism)). And the young leaders from all over Ukraine together with intellectuals strongly opposed this policy.
Thus, the creation of the subject of modernization tests for the capacity of the Republic Generation to progress of Ukraine. So, we have no right to pass the chance, we must take responsibility!
