On the occasion of Student Day Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovych instructed the Government to take measures for solving topical student issues and increasing the role of students in the development of democratic and civil society. Among them — elaborate with the participation of Studrespublika creation of International Student Center in the Crimea.
This instruction was the result of the meeting of Ukrainian students’ leaders with Viktor Yanukovych 14 November 2012. During the meeting with the President in the mode of dialogue were discussed the most painful student problems, vision of the future and concrete plans.
National leader of Studrespublika Pavlo Viknyanskyy during this meeting offered to create International Student Center in the Crimea which will based on the experience of "Student Republic". This Center will become an international platform and will integrate youth and intellectuals from around the world. The President, in turn, then said that it could be analogous to the world famous "Artek", but for the students.
The President instruction also provides for the necessity of considering the establishment of the international student center of recreation in Crimea to 1 March 2013 in order to develop international dialogue of students. Ukrainian Youth Civic Organization “Student Republic” and other youth organizations will participate in discussion of this issue.
Under the instruction of the President, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov should particularly ensure the involvement of student representatives in the elaboration of propositions regarding the establishment and implementation of state youth policy. This particularly includes the discussion and revision of the Draft Law “On Higher Education” and implementation of new organizational and financial mechanisms to provide housing for youth.
The Government must ensure the revision and adoption of the Strategy of developing state youth policy until 2020 with youth civic organizations and student government bodies being involved in the given process.
Moreover, the Cabinet of Ministers should reconsider student scholarship and set the reasonable difference between an ordinary scholarship and its increased size taking into account modern needs of youth.
According to the instruction of the President, the Government and Kyiv City State Administration should also accelerate the solution of an issue regarding the provision of premises for the House of Ukrainian Youth in Kyiv and the establishment of international youth center on its basis.
