May 3, 2014 between capital Lakes Nebrezh and Tyahle, not far from the Osokorky metro station, a Cleaning Day, organized by Students` Republic, was held. A lot of concerned citizens, volunteers-republicans, as well as candidates for mayor with their teams took part in it [+ video].
As part of the good deed the Republicans had an idea to organize a Cleaning Day, which all candidates on the mayoral would attend. Candidates’ participation means their pure intentions and their desire to work for the good of Kiev, thus they show that they are ready not just to promise, but to do at least some really useful thing for the community.
Among the invited candidates for mayor there were Ludmila Vasilenko and Mykola Katerynchuk with their teams, Igor Nasalyk, and representatives of Darth Vader, Vitali Klitschko and Lesya Orobets who joined the good business.
Everybody worked together, cleaning one of the most polluted areas of Kyiv. This beautiful area between Lake Nebrezh and Tyahle was turned into a garbage dump by the citizens themselves when not cleaning after they had rested here. When the decision to clean up here was made, we asked for the organizational support of administration of Darnytsia, and it was not rejected, so thank you for the opportunity to collect refuse.
About 200 people took part in a Cleaning Day. It was collected more than 400 garbage bags, removed two tractors full of garbage as well. A Cleaning Day passed without party symbols and agitation, so the candidates have shown that they can work together for the good of the citizens of Kyiv. It is pleasant to note that for two hours everybody forgot their memberships of parties and their status, and just worked for a comfort and merited life for all people of Kiev.
Having finished with cleaning we took a picture of everybody holding symbolic signs – slogans to subscribe to Students` Republic volunteers and not to litter. On the cleaned area special marks with a request on them to all the holidaymakers were left. It was written there: «It was cleaned by Students Republic’s volunteers! Keep order!» Based on the work that had been done a letter to the Kyiv city administration will be sent with a proposal to set garbage bins as soon as possible right next to the lake Nebrezh.
As for the strict requirements of candidates for mayor, the work is going on! We demand not populism, but responsibility. That is what Ukrainian people need, but not pseudo patriotic twaddle! So to be continued…
